The International 4200 series chassis makes Gulf Stream's SuperNova and Gladiator RVs the cream of the Class C motorhomes. International is mile ahead of other truck manufacturers in the RV industry. No other RV manufacturer has access to this chassis! Customer response from driving has been amazing. Here are some questions and answers about Gulf Stream Super Cs and the International Chassis: As with all motor homes, you must understand several factors that determine your capacity to tow. First, the International chassis has a GCWR of 33,000 lbs. and a GVWR of 25,900 lbs. The towing capacity is the difference between the weight of the unity and the GCWR. For example, if the unit weighs 20,500 lbs. you can tow 12,500 lbs. There are several floor plans that could possibly tow 12,000 lbs.
2. What is the horsepower and torque of the International VT-365?
3. How is the ride and handling of the International product? The International product was designed from the outset with ride and handling in mind. The ride-engineered chassis system delivers superior handling and ride. Standard rear suspension rubber auxiliary springs provide better stability and a smoother ride. In addition, a set-back axle provides outstanding maneuverability and a tight turning radius.
4. Does the unit have air brakes? How does that compare? The units do not have air brakes. All brake systems (hydraulic or air) must meet federal motor vehicle safety standards for stopping distances, etc. This is the same braking system International uses for commercial truck applications.
5. What is the warranty?
Chassis has a 2 year/unlimited mile limited warranty
6. Does it have an overdrive? Yes. The overdrive feature helps improve fuel economy by allowing the engine to run at lower RPM at highway speeds.
7. Why does the International have a 5.29 rear axle ratio? Many items go into optimizing drive-train performance (i.e., tire size, engine, transmission). The 5.29 rear axle ratio was chosen to help optimize performance, fuel economy, start ability and grade ability.
8. Why is the International spec'd with an Allison 2500 Series transmission? The Allison 2500 transmission is rated for vehicles up to 33,000 lb. GCWR. This allow the customer to have more cargo carrying capacity.
9. Does this unit have a tap shifter? The units use an automotive style column mounted shifter.
10. Why is there no "Park" or "P" on the steering column like a Kodiak? The Allison 2500 MH is a heavier transmission used in this application and is typical in larger class trucks. the process for parking the vehicle is to put the transmission in Neutral and apply the parking brake.
