Chapter 377
26 December 2007
Happy New Year Coachmen Friends...
Well Christmas has come and gone and 2007 is quickly drawing to a close. Thinking back over the year, it's been good to most of us. We've had lots of fun, enjoyed one another's company and had great times camping each month. We are looking forward to the coming year and hope it brings us lots of enjoyable camping trips and that we'll be blessed with good health.
Two people celebrate birthdays in the month of January, Ricky Hicks (10 Jan) and Melinda Temple (26 Jan). We wish them a Happy Birthday. There are no anniversaries for the month of January.
Our December campout was at Twin Oaks on the 14th and 15th of December.
We had 12 member units attend and two others come for the dinner on
Saturday night. On Friday the weather was descent but it went down hill
from there. Saturday was rainy and cold, Saturday night the bottom fell
out. You didn't hear many complaints though, because we needed the rain
so badly. We had a good camp out despite the weather. Friday most of us
went out to various restaurants to eat dinner and afterwards visited
for a while before turning in for the night. Saturday a.m. just as
breakfast was about to be served, Donna Taylor decided she needed a
good vantage point to make a few photo's of the crowd, so she stood up
in a chair to take the pictures and as she was getting off the chair
she lost her balance, fell and broke her wrist in two places. Charlie
took her to the ER in Houston County. She got a sling and pain pills
and had to wait for orthopedic doctor until Monday. Anyway she came
back and was able to be Mrs. Claus at the party that night. After
breakfast everyone was on their own until the evening meal planned for
5:30 p.m. The meal was fantastic, the campground furnished the ham and
turkey and all the trimmings that everyone brought made it complete. We
had lots of children and grand children come for the party and to see
what Santa had for them. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. The adult
gift game was fun as usual and I hope everyone went home with their
favorite gift. Then it was time to clean up and call it a night.
On Sunday morning after breakfast Dale White and Wynelle Hicks sang and
Harold Drake gave a devotion. Then it was time to clean up and prepare
for the trip home. This brought to a close Chapter 377's camping for
the year 2007. We are so lucky to a part of such a swell group to camp
with each month.
Just a reminder that our club dues are due by 31 December, payable to
Robert or Glenda Knighton. They are $12 for a year. Ernie Gaines had
hip replacement surgery of 10 December. He is doing very well Linda
says. Donna Taylor got a rod and eight screws in her wrist on Thrusday
after we camped to fix it. Here's hoping everyone's on the road to
recovery and that we all enjoy a healthy 2008.
Our first campout for the year 2008 will be January 18th and 19th at
Amy's R.V. Park in Tifton, Ga. Bob Daily and Mae will be the Wagon
Masters. Friday night you are on your own for dinner. On Saturday night
the menu is hot dogs and chili, so you need to bring a complimentary
dish for this.
