Chapter 377
27 February 2007
Greetings Coachmen Campers...
Well it's news time again from Chapter 377, time to report what a good camp out we
had at Twin oaks this month and looking forward to the March camp out at Lake Point
Resort State Park in Eufaula, Alabama.
We have no birthdays or anniversaries for the month of March.
February 16th and 17th at Fair Harbor we had twelve member units attend. I think we all
arrived on Friday and some stayed over an extra night due to the holiday. It was really
cold when we arrived, the wind was blowing and that made it worse. Needless to say
we didn't play the out side games. We were thankful for the warm building and gave the
card games a workout. On Friday most of us went out for dinner, some to Yoder's (at
Montezuma) and some to Warner Robins to the "Ole Times Buffet". Some chose to stay
and eat in their units. After supper many of us gathered in the building and played card
games.
Breakfast as usual on Saturday morning was wonderful from the "cheese grits" to the
fruit salad and everything in between. After breakfast you were on your own until the
5:30 hour when dinner was scheduled. In the mean time you should bring over your can
of "veggies" for the hobo stew prepared by Ernie Wright and company. Some went shopping
some went to Andersonville (sight seeing), some just chilled out and visited. About one p.m.
a bunch gathered for another card game. What fun we have together no matter what we do.
We just enjoy each others company and have a good time together.
Ernie & Faye Wright and Glenda & Robert Knighton were the wagon masters this month and
really done a super job. Ernie brought collards from his garden and cooked them. I heard
nothing but compliments. We had plenty of stew, cornbread, and everything else. The tables
were filled and no one went home hungry. Donna and Charles Taylors' friends from Barnesville
(Linda & Bobby Jones), came down and visited and joined us for dinner. We also had
numerous grandchildren visiting this week end. Following the dinner and clean up, another
card game was played until bed time.
On Sunday morning following breakfast, Harold Drake gave a devotion. Our singeers were
under the weather so were excused this time. We do appreciate them very much and want
them to know we miss them when they can't sing for us. Once again it was time to clean
up, say your goodbyes and get ready for your return trip home.
We need to continue remembering Linda & Walker Lord and Russ and Melinda Temple in
our prayers. We wish they could camp with us, but understand why they can't. We want
them to know we won't forget them.
Our campout for March will be on 16th and 17th at Lake Point Resort State Park, Eufaula, Ala.
It's a beautiful park located on the lake with full hookups, and you are welcome to fish we are
told. The Phone # is 1-800-544-5253 or (334) 687-8011. You are not required to call for
reservations only if you want too. We will be camping in the Deer Park area just tell them upon
your arrival that you are with the Peach State Coachmen Club.
Linda & Ernie Gaines and Donna & Charles Taylor are the wagon masters. They have planned
for the club to order pizza for everyone on Friday night. Then on Saturday night Tim Gaines, Linda
& Ernie's son is going to make Cincinnati chili for the club. Bring your side dishes for that and
you'll have it made. Here's hoping for warmer weather by then.
