Chapter 377
22 June 2007
Hello Fellow Campers...
It's time again to report on our June campout and tell where and what we are planning for the July campout.
We again were saddened by the death of yet another camping member, Linda Lord. We will all miss Linda. She and Walker were faithful members until their health got so bad they could no longer come. They both fought a good fight.
Ernie Gaines has a birthday on 12 July. We wish him a happy birthday. Also Linda & Ernie Gaines and Dale & Bibb White will celebrate their wedding anniversaries on 1 July. We wish you many more and hope you enjoy your special day.
Our Rally at Twin Oaks R.V. Park was really a success on 15 & 16 June.
We had ten member units attend. Folks that's over 75 per cent of our members which we consider an excellent turnout. Ryan Baxley was graduating from culinary school in Atlanta, so the Baxleys were attending that. Congratulations Ryan, we are all proud of you and your accomplishment.
Our weather was perfect for a June weekend. We all enjoyed sitting out (in the shade) and visiting. Some enjoyed the pool and games. It was all outside fun; hardly any inside games this campout. On Friday night some went out to eat while others ate in their units. Saturday morning the men cooked breakfast as usual, served at 9 a.m. After breakfast you were on your own until 5 p.m. when you were to bring whatever you wanted grilled for dinner.
Dinner was served at 5:30 p.m. - baked potatoes, steak/chicken, salad, bread, and desserts. It was so-o-o good, everyone are their fill and not much visiting took place after entertainment and clean-up. I think everyone was too miserable, they got ready for bed. We had entertainment after the meal. Ernie and Linda Gaines had invited Shea & Rusty Sloan and their 10-year-old daughter Madison from Reynolds. Rusty played guitar and they all sang. It was a treat, we enjoyed them very much.
On Sunday morning the ladies prepared the breakfast because it was Father's day. We had pan cakes/waffles, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, pastries etc. The devotion was given by ladies also - Dale White & Shirley Odom sang and Barbara Pollard gave the devotion. Many thanks to Faye & Ernie Wright and Glenda & Robert Knighton for being our wagon masters for this one more enjoyable camping week-end.
On Saturday afternoon just before dinner all had to put on our new club shirts and pose for a group picture for the camp ground host. They post club pictures on the walls of the clubhouse. I have neglected to tell you about Linda & Ernie Gaines' new campers in the past few newsletters. I think after a "couple" they have finally decided that this Mirada is for them. I understand they can both sleep in the bed and no one has to sleep on the sofa. Congratulations we're so happy for you. wish you many safe miles and enjoyable campouts.
Our camp out for July will be on the 20th and 21st at Scenic Mountain R.V. Park at Milledgeville, Ga. This is a new park to our club, so let's go check it out. They would like for everyone to make individual reservations, phone # is 1-800-716-3015. Tell them you are camping with Peach State Camping Club Chapter 277. If you would like you might ask them directions to their park form the way you will be coming in. Mine are off the Internet and are not too good.
Nobody stepped up to the plate as wagon masters, so we'll be winging it. You are on your own for Friday night. On Saturday night we will have a potluck supper. Bring your favorite dishes, let's put them together and see what happens. This club always has successful potlucks so we are really looking forward to this one.
Let's remember Russ and Melinda Temple in our prayers. We miss them camping with us.
Directions to Scenic Mountain R.V. Park is: Right on U.S. 441 (Bypass), left at 4th signal light, about 7 miles, park is 1/4 mi on right. I don't know what directions this is coming from. From Macon take Hwy 49 toward Milledgeville, turn right on Hwy 441 South, look for park sign. The address is 2686 Irwington Road. Wishing all of you safe travels and good health. See you at Milledgeville in July.
