Chapter 377
23 November 2007

Hello Fellow Coachmen Campers....

Well It's the day after Thanksgiving and I hope everyone enjoyed their day and their turkey and visiting with family. We did but it takes its toll. Ha!

We only had one birthday in the month of December. Ryan Baxley will be celebrating on 3 December. Happpy Birthday Ryan from the Club. Jim and Barbara Pollard will celebrate their Wedding Anniversary on 9 December. Congratulations to the two of you.

We had a real enjoyable camp out at Fair Harbor. Even the weather was nice. Had nine member units attend and two visitors, who joined the club and became our new members. They are Wynelle & Ricky Hicks and Edna & Buddy Jessup. We are glad to have them and hope they will enjoy the Club as much as we do. On Friday night you were on your own. As usual some went out to various local restaurants while others chose to eat in their units. After breakfast on Saturday you were on your own until 5:30 p.m. when the Thanksgiving meal was served. Everyone brought their complimentary dishes to the turkeys and the tables were filled with all sorts of delicious foods. We had several visitors ( children and grandchildren) attend. Everything was really good. Kathleen and Mark Baxley were the wagon masters and the tables were decorated so pretty. They did a great job.

After the meal Mark had a meeting. The club voted to make a $200 contribution to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank and also $100 contribution to the Valley Rescue Mission over in Columbus. Harold and Fran serve over there every year and they agreed to present our check to them. The club also voted on the gift exchange for next month to be changed from $10 to a minimum of $15 and Maximum of $20 because you can hardly find anything for $10. The tradition is a man bring a man's gift and a lady brings a ladies gift. Just make sure they are marked for which gender. We also voted to bring back the old practice of paying $1 each adult for breakfast each morning to defray the cost of coffee and meat. We will continue to bring your breakfast foods, but if you bring meat give us a receipt and you will be reimbursed. The door prize went to Harold and Fran Drake. They seem to be lucky.

Sunday morning breakfast was served as usual and everyone enjoyed, followed by a song by Dale White and Wynelle Hicks and the devotion given by Harold Drake. Then it was that time again to clean up, pack up and head for home. Say your good byes until next month.

We were glad to see the Drakes -- this time they barely made it. They had extensive work done on their camper after their trip to Branson and the outside of their camper was blowing off going down the road. Anyway they got it out of the shop in time to make the campout. Bob Daily was under the weather and couldn't make He says he's almost as good as new (thanks to antibiotics & good doctors). Betty Pardon has been down with back problems and couldn't make it either. Hope she's doing better. Shirley Odom was there but not well - we hope she's feeling better by now. Ernie Gaines will have hip surgery on the 10th of December - we wish him the best. Also continue to remember Russ & Melinda Temple. Let's remember all these people in our prayers.

Everyone remember the year is almost gone. We worked on the 2008 camping schedule some this month but still have gaps to fill with camp sites and wagon masters. Also remember our 2008 club dues are due and payable to Robert or Glanda Knighton by 31 December 2008. The amount remains at $12, so little for so much fun, don't you agree.

Our December camp out will be at Twin Oaks RV Park, Elko, on the 14th and 15th. This will be our Christmas camp out. The campground will cook a turkey and a ham, so we should bring a dish to complement that. Please call the campground and make your reservation ASAP (they are usually pretty crowded this time of the year) - their phone number is (478) 987-9361.

Directions to Twin Oaks RV Park: Take I-75 south of Perry, Ga. to Exit 127 or Hwy 26. Go east 1/10 mile, the park is on the left. Hope to see you there. I hope you all have been good 'cause Santa might show up and he likes for us to be good. Here's wishing all safe travels and good health.
