Back at work

Posted by Rex Gambill in personalfamilydealership

Some of my customers apparently had trouble reaching me last week.

I was in the hospital, and didn't have access to the Internet! I had had a bout of shortness of breath and mild chest pain one evening, and my Michele and my kids talked me into going to the ER. Apparently I looked bad enough to be admitted, and a week's worth of testing, poking and prodding culminated in a heart cath - all of which proved that I did not have a pulmonary embolism, nor did I have heart problems. So, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I do know what isn't!

Anyway, I'm back at the office.

SVS installs Rockford Fosgate in Coachmen Mirada

Our friends at SVS (Sound and Video Solutions) never fail to impress me with their professional installation of A/V gear in our motorhomes.

Here we have an awesome audio system with Rockford Fosgate speakers built into one of the storage compartments of a 2009 Coachmen Mirada 355TS we sold this week.

While SVS' work for us here at Mid-State RV is limited to A/V and satellite systems in motorhomes, they are equally proficient at designing and installing home theaters. Don't hesitate to contact them by phone at (478) 256-3628 or by email at SVS2U@SVS2U.com .

Spending the day with Dad

Evan poses in a diesel motorhomeMy son Evan spent the day with me this week and posed for my camera from the driver's seat of a diesel motorhome.

It is absolutely wonderful to be able to work in a family-owned business that allows you to bring your child to work so they can see what it is that we do all day.

Evan and I had a great time, topped off with a trip to Krystal!

Killdeer nest at Mid-State RV Center

Posted by Rex Gambill in naturedealership

This killdeer spent a good four to five weeks (it seemed) protecting four eggs in its nest.

We have a lot of these shore birds at our dealership, and they are known for nesting on the ground, amid rocks and gravel.

It's safe to say we have plenty of rocks and gravel for them to choose from!

The baddest Adrenaline Surge available

Mid-State RV Center employee Dan Bellamy demonstrates the awning during customer Louis Gombkoto's walk-through orientation on delivery day. Louis Gombkoto of Silver Springs, Fla., found us on the Internet back in March, and he was specifically looking for a 29-foot Adrenaline Surge travel trailer toy hauler. Dissatisfied with Florida RV dealers, and planning a trip to Coachmen RV's manufacturing facility in nearby Fitzgerald, Ga., Louis knew exactly what he wanted in his next RV.

After visiting the engineering team in Fitzgerald, Louis contacted me and we went over all the features he wanted on his new Surge. Shortly thereafter, we placed an order for what is probably the most tricked-out Platinum Edition Adrenaline Surge in existence!

Mid-State RV Center employee Dan Bellamy (left) thanks customer Louis Gombkoto for his purchase on delivery day. Among the optional features on board are the Blue Blaze interior decor with Carbon Fiber woodgrain, double electric track queen bed and double sofa bed, 800 watt sound system, 4.0 kilowatt generator with fuel station, electric tongue jack, electric stabilizer jacks (!), a screen wall at the rear ramp area, heavy duty TPO flooring in the cargo area, and a roof ladder.

Furthermore, factory reps managed to install a 9 gallon water heater in place of the standard 6 gallon water heater; a second Shurflo power roof vent in the bedroom, and extra tiedowns in the cargo area - all options not listed among those available for the Surge toy hauler.

By the time delivery day rolled around, Louis and I were like old friends. Everything was ready to roll, and Louis was kind enough to send our owner a nice note afterwards.

A business philosophy

Posted by Rex Gambill in dealership

rex
MSRV owner Lee Pickard shared one of his business philosophies with us in this morning's sales meeting. Here it is:

Part One: If two people always agree, one of them is unnecessary.

Part Two: If two people of the same integrity and philosophy disagree, then there is an opportunity for both individuals to learn.

We get the most beautiful visitors

Posted by Rex Gambill in dealership

I've said it before ... we get the most beautiful guests here at Mid-State RV. Today, this stunning, multicolored moth hung out on the spare tire of one of our travel trailers, basking in the sunlight.
Does anyone know what kind of moth this is? Email me (rex@midstaterv.com) with your answer.
